Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to a home early Monday morning for a report of a fire inside a home near East Kent Street and Elm Avenue around 1:30.

Firefighters were on scene until about 3:00 a.m.  LFR released the following written statement:

At approximately 1:24 a.m. this morning, E2, E4, E5, T4, 810, and 820 responded to a reported structure fire at 517 E. Kent Street. E2 advised they had visible fire and smoke showing from several blocks away. Enroute it was noted that everyone was out of the structure. E2 made entry into the structure to find the attic on fire. E2 then made an interior attack on the fire and contained fire and limited fire spread. No injuries were reported and no assistance was needed for residents. FMO was called to the scene to investigate the cause of the fire. LFR units remained on scene while FMO investigated the cause. Structure had moderate fire damage and the fire cause has been ruled accidental.
