Haley Frizzell, David Ortiz, Belinda Moats, Dru Estes and James Miranda died in the intentionally-set fire at the Iconic Village apartment complex July 20. While the fire spread to multiple buildings, they were all in the same building. Many of the victims were Texas State University students.

Moreno confirmed the Travis County Medical Examiner’s office determined Ortiz and Frizzell died of “thermal injuries,” and Moats, Estes and Miranda died from “thermal injuries and inhalation of products of combustion.”

At the end of November, investigators said they were conducting a criminal investigation and offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest or conviction of whoever was responsible. Right now, investigators aren’t releasing any information about whether they’ve received tips about a suspect or suspects.

Their autopsy reports will be sealed because of the ongoing investigation. Investigators also said at the end of July they knew where the fire started but did not elaborate.
