Trash is pouring into Lake Fort Phantom Hill and locals are helplessly watching as the pile grows.

“Abilene flooded and it came our way,” Tonya Rule, a lake resident said. “That’s what we get.”

The debris has been gathering on the western side of the lake. It includes items like bottles, brush and even trees.

“That debris is so thick around that bank that I can’t get over the brush,” John Overstreet, a lake resident said. “The brush is so condensed now that you can probably walk on it in areas.”

Overstreet suffers from a neurological illness. His best way to relax is by going out to the lake and catching some fish.

“I couldn’t get the fish over the rubbish,” said Overstreet.

John has learned to live with his condition, and that doesn’t stop him from enjoying his beloved lake. Unfortunately, going out on his boat has become impossible.

“I took the boat motor off this morning and took it up to the house cause it don’t look like I’m going to get out of here for quite some time.”

For now Overstreet is hoping that someone will come out to clean the mess or that the wind will change and carry it somewhere else.

“I’m waiting on God,” Overstreet said. “He’s going to send a mighty wind.”
