One person was killed in the flooding in Breckenridge, Texas Monday morning. There were also about a dozen water rescues.

The Breckenridge city secretary reports the victim who died was swept away in the flood waters off of 183 near the water treatment plant. We will refrain from identifying the victim until family members have been notified.

Several roads leading into the city are closed, and rescuers had to help about 12 people out of of their flooded and stalled vehicles.

A person working at the city’s water filtration operation had to be rescued from the floodwater.

That means that the only water available this morning is the water in the lines.

The city officials ordered Stage 4 water restrictions until the issue is resolved.
