Work on a $2.3 million Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) project to replace the bridge at FM 400, over the North Fork Double Mountain Fork Brazos River approximately four miles north of Slaton in Lubbock County, is set to begin on June 1. Project contractor is Kiewit Infrastructure South Co., of Ft. Worth, Texas.
“Work to demolish and replace the existing bridge will requires us to completely close the FM 400 to all through traffic,” said Will Barnett, TxDOT Lubbock Area engineer. “Northbound FM 400 traffic will be detoured around the work zone via US 84 and FM 835, while southbound traffic will use FM 3523 and FM 835.”
Local traffic will continue to have access to either side of FM 400, but not to cross the bridge. Completion date for the project is set for late-August, with traffic restored to the roadway by August 26.
