Ninth Judicial District Attorney, Andrea Reeb, announced that a former Hobbs Police Officer was sentenced yesterday in Lovington District Court. Curry Roosevelt District Attorney Reeb prosecuted the case due to the conflict in the Hobbs District Attorney’s Office.
Arnulfo Rojas, age 37, of Hobbs, NM, entered a no contest plea to one count of Tampering with Public Records, a fourth degree felony. Rojas was alleged to have unlawfully changed a police report to show he was the arresting officer.
The Honorable Gary Clingman, District Judge, presided over the hearing and accepted the conditional discharge agreement. Rojas was sentenced to serve 18 months of supervised probation (which may revert to unsupervised after 9 months), and ordered that Rojas loose his certification as a police officer in New Mexico.
