A former Sweetwater ISD middle school teacher and coach has been arrested for multiple child sex crimes connected to allegations of a relationship with a student.
Kevin Oliver was arrested in Fisher County Friday afternoon on a warrant for Sexual Assault of a Child, Improper Relationship between Educator and Student, and Indecency with a Child, according to the Taylor County District Attorney.
He was indicted prior to the arrest warrant being served.
The warrant was issued out of Nolan County, but the Nolan County District Attorney has recused himself from the case, so Taylor County is taking over.
Oliver resigned from his position at Sweetwater ISD after the Sweetwater Police Department began investigating the allegations in September of 2016.
Sweetwater ISD Superintendent confirmed Oliver was a teacher and coach at Sweetwater Middle School when the investigation began. He also worked at the high school as a football coach, according to Pittman.
Oliver was released from jail the same day he was arrested after posting a $45,000 bond.
