The Fourth of July festivities left debris and trash on the ground all across the county, especially at MacKenzie Park. Lubbock County workers were up early cleaning areas where fireworks were set off for celebration.

Rodshadi Moore, the Office Manager for the Road and Bridge Department, said workers stay close to county lines where most people go to set off fireworks,

“Our crew started on Woodrow down into Wolfforth area and came across all the way to Cooper and then they will focus on Ave P,” Moore said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Parks and Recreation will take care of all 81 parks.

Bridget Faulkenberry, the Director of Parks and Recreation, said the parks are always packed with trash after the Fourth of July.

“We use inmate crews and we do have some temporary workers as needed so that does cost a little bit more but we budget for that every year,” Faulkenberry said.

Faulkenberry asks that people be patient because the clean up process could take more than a day.
