The Frenship Independent School District Board of Trustees named Dr. Michelle McCord Ed.D. as interim Superintendent for the district during a special called board meeting Friday morning. McCord accepts the interim role effectively immediately.

Dr. McCord has 19 years of education experience during her career with the previous five years as the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services for FISD. Her experience includes 11 years of district level administration and an additional eight years in campus administration.

Dr. McCord was awarded her Doctorate of Educational Leadership from Lamar University in 2014. She also has a Masters of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership and a Bachelors of Arts in Psychology and Spanish from Midwestern State University.

McCord assumes the responsibilities formerly held by Dr. David Vroonland who was named lone finalist for the Superintendent position at Mesquite ISD on Monday.

“We thank Dr. Vroonland for his six years of service to Frenship ISD and wish him well as he pursues new challenges ahead,” said Brad Draper, FISD Board President. “The FISD Board of Trustees is proud of our staff and students for the successes and milestones they achieve every day, and we are committed to the continued progression of our district and meeting the high expectations of our community moving forward. Our Trustees are finalizing plans that will effectively carry our district ahead during this time of transition while the search for a new leader begins.”
