Logan is caring for Professor X near the Mexican border, both of them in hiding in the year 2029. But a mystery woman appears and asks Logan to get a young girl to safety. It becomes a do-or-die fight into destiny. Critic are calling it the best X-Men movie ever and the best superhero movie since The Dark Night. It’s rated R and runs a little longer than an hour-and-a-half. Dig your claws into it at the Alamo Drafthouse and every other Lubbock movie theater.

The Shack is the story of a father’s spiritual journey after the loss of his daughter. He’s is beckoned to the abandoned shack where he meets three mysterious strangers. But he discovers truths behind his tragedy and his life transforms. Rated PG-13 and running an hour-and-a-half, find salvation and the Alamo Drafthouse, Premiere or either Cinemark.

The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra has a treat for you this weekend. The grand finale of the the three works they will perform is Tchaikovsky’s Symphony Number 6, Pathétique. It was his last completed symphony, and he led its first performance just days before his death. Daniel Myssyk is the Guest Conductor, and the performance features Pianist Andrew Staupe in Beethoven’s Piano Concerto Number 3. It’s Friday and Saturday night only at the Civic Center Theater. Tickets are $25 to $50 through the LSO website.

The Lubbock Community Theatre wraps its run of the classic, A Raisin in the Sun. It’s the story of a family who all have different plans for an inheritance, but they still face family conflict and racial tensions that get in the way of their dreams. There are only three performances left: Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 and Sunday at 2:00. Tickets are $22 for adults and $17 for seniors and students and you can get them through the Theatre’s website. You ticket will get you into Texas Tech production of the sequel to the play, Clybourne Park, which Tech is performing this weekend.
