Garski’s, a well-known Lubbock restaurant since 1976, will not reopen according to a statement posted to Facebook on Friday.
Gardski’s was to reopen under the name Holy Cow at Gardski’s after remodeling of the building at 2009 Broadway Street. But the statement cited “structural problems” that were too much to overcome.
The following the full text of the statement from Gardski’s.
Gardski’s will not be reopening. This is heartbreaking for us as we’ve poured our hearts and souls into this dream of ours over the last year. The community behind Gardski’s was the light at the end of the tunnel for us – your support and encouragement are what kept us going. We never thought we would rebuild the building from the inside out. Unfortunately, there were, and still are, too many structural obstacles that we couldn’t overcome. While it will never be restored to its former glory by us, we are incredibly grateful for your support and encouragement through our year-long struggle. Thank you for sharing your memories and your love for Gardski’s with us. We would have loved to finish the project, but for now, we’re grateful for your prayers and support, and looking to the future.
