Odessa Police arrested Jarius Jareel Briggs, 30, for a second-degree felony charge of robbery.
Police responded to the report of a robbery on Sunday evening in the 2100 block of East 9th Street.
“Upon arrival, officers observed a male subject being detained by several subjects,” police said.
Police said the victim was a 43-year-old man.
“He had just parked his Ford Expedition when an unknown male subject approached him and began hitting the driver’s side window,” police said. “The victim advised that the suspect then opened the driver’s door and stated that he was taking the vehicle.”
Police said Briggs hit the victim and tried to pull him out of the vehicle.
“Witnesses ran over and helped the victim detain the suspect until officers arrived on scene,” police said.
