The United States Department of Labor sued Han Nara Enterprises in Lubbock federal court on Tuesday. The company operates various locations of Ashley Furniture.
The DOL accused the company of not paying overtime to employees since at least November 11, 2011. Included with the lawsuit was a 102-page list of employees who are owed money.
Some employees were owed less than $50 on the list. Others were owed thousands of dollars.
The lawsuit said, “Defendant violated the FLSA’s overtime provisions by: (a) altering time cards to reflect 40 hours when employees … worked in excess of 40 hours and were due overtime…”
The lawsuit said this included warehouse workers, porters, environmental specialists, customer service employees and commissioned salespeople.
According to the website ashleytx.net, “Han Nara Enterprises is a family-owned company out of Lubbock, Texas.”
The website said, “The owners have been in the furniture retail business for over 20 years and operate stores under the Ashley Furniture HomeStore license in Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland, and Wichita Falls, as well as in Hobbs, New Mexico.”
The lawsuit said Abilene was also on the list of store locations.
EverythingLubbock.com contacted Han Naran for comment. The company declined.
