A second accident victim has died after being struck by a vehicle in West Lubbock Thursday evening.

The accident occurred at Farm-to-Market Road 179 and County Road 6520 around 9:30 p.m, according to the DPS.

Authorities said a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling eastbound on County Road 6520 when it struck the three pedestrians, a grandmother and her two grandchildren.

All three accident victims were taken by ambulance to Covenant Medical Center.

A hospital spokesman confirmed to EverythingLubbock.com Saturday that Luz Montoya, 43, had died from her injuries.

The hospital reported Sunday the 6-year-old grandchild has also died. The 9-year-old grandchild remains in critical condition.

The driver of the truck, identified as Robert Yeager, was not injured, the DPS said. 

The DPS said the accident remains under investigation.
