Groundbreaking Ceremony for Talkington Habitat Addition Phase One 22 Homes

Lubbock Habitat for Humanity (LHFH) will host a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday, March 22 at 10 a.m. for the Talkington Habitat Addition, located at Guava and Erskine.

The infrastructure is being made possible by generous grants from the J.T. and Margaret Talkington Foundation and the City of Lubbock Community Development Block Grant (CDBG).

“The J. T. and Margaret Talkington Foundation is proud to partner with Lubbock Habitat,” Chairman of the Foundation Board of Directors Norton Baker said. “The establishment of the new housing addition is in a good location.”

Phase One of the Talkington Habitat additions calls for the construction of 22 homes.

“LHFH is appreciative of the support it has received from the J. T. and Margaret Talkington Foundation and the City of Lubbock,” President of the LHFH Board of Directors John Scarborough said. “We are also appreciative of the partnership with Hugo Reed and Associates who are overseeing this phase of the project, and Utilities Contractors of America (UCA) who are doing the actual utility installation. It is because of these types of partnerships, that LHFH is able to provide simple, decent, affordable housing.”

Habitat supporters and officials will speak at the ceremony. Media and public are invited to attend.
