Lubbock Fire Rescue responded to 98th Street and Slide Road Tuesday morning after 8:00 a.m.
A photojournalist at the scene reported that a young man was driving a pickup truck near the playa while it was dry. He stopped and fell asleep in the truck. With rains overnight, the young man woke up in the morning to find his truck in the middle of water.
The photojournalist said the young man stripped down to his underwear and went through the water to make it onto dry land.
So far police have said there were no injuries and no charges.
