Studies on the benefits of low dose aspirin found no evidence it helps protect against dementia or cognitive decline. Researchers analyzed studies involving 36,000 people over a period of about six years. Taking aspirin did not appear to improve patients’ cognitive test scores.

Inhaled steroids are a common treatment for controlling asthma. A new study in a British pharmacology journal found the treatment may increase the risk for pneumonia by as much as 83-percent. Even so, pneumonia is fairly unusual among asthma patients and researchers say corticosteroids remain the best therapy.

Cycling to work may lead to substantial health benefits. A study in the British Medical Journal involved more than a quarter million participants. It found commuting by bicycle is linked to a substantial decrease in the risk of dying from cancer and cardiovascular disease. Walking to work also showed benefits but not as extreme as cycling.
