People who drink diet soda daily are almost three times more likely to develop stroke and Alzheimer’s disease according to researchers from Boston University. The study also found people who often drink sugary beverages, such as sodas and fruit juices, are more likely to have poorer memories. The researchers stressed the findings do not prove the drinks cause the memory or heart issues, just that there’s a link.

The number of Americans hospitalized with high blood pressure related emergencies, including chest pain, heart failure and stroke, rose 63 percent during the last decade. The study in the American Journal of Hypertension also found the number of patients dying in the hospital from those emergencies dropped during that same period. 

The CDC is out with new recommendations to prevent allegeric reactions in restaurants. The CDC said restaurants should use dedicated equipment to prepare and cook meals for customers with food allergies, or at least clean the equipment and workspaces before preparing meals for those customers. Federal health officials said one in three people with food allergies have had a reaction in a restaurant.
