Healthcast, A Study on Synthetic Cannabinoids and High School Students

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found teenagers who use a popular drug known as “fake weed” are more likely to use other drugs and alcohol. One in ten U.S. high school students reported using synthetic cannabinoids which are chemically similar to marijuana but more potent.

Women who undergo fertility treatment but do not get pregnant are nearly 20 percent more likely to develop long-term cardiovascular disease later in life, according to a Canadian study. Researchers suggested as women age, they remind their doctors if they had fertility treatment years earlier.

A new study in the journal Pediatrics found an increasing number of children are ending up emergency rooms after getting injured by items including strollers, cribs and baby carriers. Researchers found most injuries occurred at home and were due to a fall, injuring the baby’s head, neck or face. The study said parents should research baby products, check for recalls, register new baby-product purchases and read the manual.
