Exercise could increase chances of survival after a heart attack. A study in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology found patients with light levels of physical activity are 32 percent less likely to die from a heart attack. That number rose to 47 percent for moderate to high activity.
Hot flashes in younger midlife women could signal vascular dysfunction that leads to heart disease. A study in the online journal ‘Menopause’ looked at women 40 to 60 years old. The effect of hot flashes on the ability of blood vessels to dilate was found only in the younger third of the group.
Researchers at the University of Oxford said eating fresh fruit can reduce the risk of diabetes. The team found fresh fruit was also associated with a lower risk of death in patients with diabetes.
