People who undergo laparoscopic stomach surgery to lose weight still need to be diligent about their eating habits. Researchers said patients had the best weight loss outcomes when they weighed themselves weekly, stopped eating when full and didn’t eat continuously during the day.

A new study has suggested that screening young athletes to prevent sudden cardiac arrest does not save lives and in some cases may do more harm than good. Of 115 young athletes who suddenly died and had the recommended pre-participation evaluation, only four of them were suspected of having heart disease, and only one athlete was found to have the abnormality responsible for their death. As for electrocardiograms, which are also recommended, researchers found a high number of false positives that sometimes lead to overdiagnosis and overtreatment.
