Researchers in Europe said oral contraceptive use has led to a drop in ovarian cancer deaths in women worldwide. A decline in hormone replacement therapy to manage menopause symptoms may also play a role. Ovarian cancer death rates in the United States fell 16% between 2002 and 2012.

New scientific data from the Netherlands has suggested that taking antibiotics early in life may raise the risk of developing allergies later on. Doctors found babies given antibiotics in the first two years of life were up to 41% more at risk for eczema. They were up to 56% more likely to develop hay fever.

Doctors at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute have found the heavier you are, the better your chances of surviving advanced kidney cancer. Scientists said obese patients lived longer and their disease progressed more slowly.
