Heart patients with high cholesterol and an intolerance to cholesterol-lowering drugs may benefit from evolocumab, according to researchers at the Cleveland Clinic. They found the drug to be more effective for hard-to-treat patients with statin-intolerance.
Researchers at Johns Hopkins report early success in clinical trials with a new weight loss procedure for the obese. It’s called bariatric arterial embolization. Doctors said the minimally invasive treatment helps with weight loss, hunger reduction and keeping hunger hormones in check.
New research in Utah has found that elderly men may be able to cut their risk of stroke, heart attack and even death with testosterone therapy. A study of close to 800 older male patients found those taking testosterone supplements had fewer cardiovascular events.
