A new study in the journal Pediatrics has suggested that there may be a link between how early your child achieves milestones and cognitive skills later on. Researchers said children who were standing earlier than their peers often excelled developmentally.
The American Academy of Pediatrics has urged for more education to help prevent teenagers from using performance-enhancing substances. Doctors said teenager use of protein powders, steroids and other unregulated or illegal products is down but still too high. They said health care workers need to be more vigilant recognizing abuses.
Teen suicide is now the second leading cause of death among adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics is publishing updated guidelines for doctors so they can better identify teenagers at risk from bullying and problematic internet use.
