Surgeons at Johns Hopkins have successfully performed the world’s first ever HIV-to-HIV liver transplant. The recipient has been HIV positive for 25 years. In the past, HIV infected organs have been thrown away.
 
Pregnant women who get a flu vaccine are 51% less likely to have a stillbirth compared to unvaccinated moms-to-be, according to researchers in Western Australia. They studied data from nearly 60,000 births. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has said a flu shot is okay for pregnant women during any trimester of their pregnancy.
 
The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new label for Mifeprex– a common abortion inducing drug. The label will now say it is safe to take up to 70 days after the woman’s last menstrual cycle, instead of 49 days. Mifeprex was previously known by the name RU-486.
