New guidelines from the American Heart Association recommend that stroke survivors get treated at in-patient rehab facilities rather than nursing homes. The organization said rehab facilities offer at least three hours a day of physical, occupational and speech therapy. The group also said stroke survivors should not be discharged from the hospital until they take a class on preventing falls.

Telephone CPR can save lives. Researchers in Arizona found it increases both survival rates and favorable outcomes for heart attack patients. Telephone CPR is when a bystander calls 911 and the dispatcher provides instructions on how to provide CPR to the victim.
