Healthcast, How Diet Impacts Breast Cancer Risks

Women who have a poor diet during their teenage and young adult years have a 35 percent higher risk of developing breast cancer before menopause, according to a UCLA study. Researchers found a diet low in vegetables and high in sugar, red and processed meats and margarine has been linked to high levels of inflammation in the body which can lead to cancer.

A study in the British Medical Journal found women who take flu medication during pregnancy are not putting their babies at risk for any complications. Researchers from Scandinavia and France tracked about 700,000 pregnant women, some who were prescribed drugs like Tamiflu and Relenza.


Female athletes are 50 percent more likely than male athletes to have a sports-related concussion according to Columbia University researchers. They also found all athletes who had suffered a previous concussion were 3 times more likely to have another concussion.
