Infants who were exposed to the Zika virus in the womb may still develop microcephaly even if it’s not present at birth. The CDC looked at 13 exposed infants in Brazil who were born with brain abnormalities but did not have microcephaly. 11 of them went on to develop the condition along with significant neurological complications.
More seniors are going to the emergency room because of issues with their medications. In a new CDC study, older Americans accounted for 35 percent of emergency room visits for adverse drug events, up from 26 percent. Blood thinners, diabetes drugs and opioids were responsible for the majority of those visits.
How a dad responds to becoming a new parent could have long-term implications for his child. Oxford researchers followed thousands of children from infancy to age 11. They found children were less likely to have behavioral problems as pre-teens if their dads adjusted well to fatherhood back when the kids were infants.
