A new study suggested the learning strategy known as practice testing may protect the memory against stress. Researchers at Tufts University said students who took practice tests had much better recall even under high levels of stress than students who used the conventional study method of re-reading the material.
As World AIDS Day approaches next week, the CDC reported access to HIV testing for infants has expanded in sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean. Doctors said improvements in testing during the past five years led to significant progress towards eliminating mother-to-child transmissions of the virus.

Researchers in New Zealand and Scotland said people with a high risk of deficiency should consider extra sunlight exposure and low-dose supplements but others should focus on healthy eating and short bursts of sunshine.
