Since Colorado legalized marijuana two years ago, emergency room visits by out-of-towners have spiked, according to a study from Northwestern Medicine. Doctors said experimental pot smokers aren’t prepared to handle the side effects, including hallucinations and anxiety. They also said that edible marijuana products often have delayed reactions, which could trigger an overdose.

New findings have shown an active and healthy brain goes a long way in the fight against Alzheimer’s but it won’t stop the disease. Mayo Clinic researchers studied people who carried a gene linked to dementia. They said middle-aged patients who remained physically and mentally active had lower levels of plaque that build-up in the brain of Alzheimer’s patients.

There is another benefit to laser treatment used to kill brain tumors. Doctors said the treatment can manipulate the brain’s defense barrier long enough for certain chemotherapy drugs to pass through and be effective. The finding gives hope to patients with the most common and deadliest of brain tumors.
