A new recommendation from the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force calls for screening pregnant women for preeclampsia throughout their pregnancy by taking their blood pressure. Preeclampsia is a complication characterized by high blood pressure that usually begins at least 20 weeks into the pregnancy. It affects approximately four percent of pregnancies and can lead to poor health outcomes for mom and baby.

Obese children face four times the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by the age of 25 compared to children with a normal body mass index. That’s according to researchers from Kings College London. They also found the number of children diagnosed with type 2 diabetes skyrocketed in the last several years of the study.

A new study found a link between beer and abnormal heart rhythms. Researchers in Munich found the more beer drinkers consumed, the higher the likelihood of developing cardiac arrhythmias. Arrhythmias can lead to more serious complications such as heart failure and stroke.
