A new study has found that nasal sprays provide children just as much protection against influenza as standard flu shots. The findings from McMaster University in Canada challenge the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendation not to use the nasal spray after other studies found the spray to be ineffective. Canadian researchers said their results come from a three year randomized trial involving about 1,200 children.

A new report has found full-time college students drink more but smoke far less than other people their age. The federal report also said full-time college students are more likely to engage in binge drinking. Marijuana use was nearly identical among the two groups.

The American Heart Association is calling on people to sit less and move more. Researchers said U.S. adults are sedentary for about six to eight hours a day. Sedentary behavior may be associated with an increased risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disease. The authors recommend Americans aim for 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per day.
