About 6 percent of U.S. babies born to mothers with the Zika virus have birth defects. A new report from the CDC showed the rate of defects is even higher among women infected with Zika in their first trimester.
A new study found low levels of a certain protein in the brain may contribute to almost a third of autism cases. Researchers in Toronto dropped the levels of the protein in mice which induced autistic behavior. They said the finding could help develop treatments for autism.
New research suggested kidneys from donors who died in their 80’s can be used for transplants. European researchers found similar survival rates following transplants from donors ages 50 through their 80’s.
