There is a new toothpaste that shows users where plaque is hiding and scientists said it also has another benefit. The toothpaste reduces inflammation that can lead to heart attacks and strokes. Florida researchers tested participants for a protein that signals inflammation then had them brush with Plaque HD for two months. The protein numbers after were significantly lower.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is asking states to create school programs that put sealants on kids’ teeth. Less than half of all school-aged children get sealants, which protect against 50% of cavities. Low income children are 20% less likely to have sealants than higher income children.
