An irregular heartbeat is a stronger risk factor for stroke, heart disease and death in women compared to men, according to international researchers. The study, which was published in the British Medical Journal, tracked more than four million people. It found women with irregular heartbeats need more aggressive treatment.
A Mayo Clinic study has found no link between surgical anesthesia in patients over age 40 and mild cognitive impairment later in life. Past studies have shown associations between anesthesia exposure to young children and learning and memory problems later on.
A new study has found 92% of meals that are served in U.S. restaurants contain too many calories. Tufts University researchers tested food from 123 fast food and regular sit down restaurants in California, Massachusetts and Arkansas. They found American, Chinese and Italian restaurants had the highest calorie counts, with average meals around 1,500 calories.
