New research found smoking marijuana raises the risk of stroke and heart failure. Doctors said it’s important users know the risks, especially now that marijuana is on track to become legal for recreational or medical use in more than 25 states.
More than 400,000 cardiovascular deaths a year are linked to an unhealthy diet. That’s according to a study at the University of Washington, which shows eating foods lower in salt and trans fats could save tens of thousands of lives every year.
Studies show overweight people may live as long as normal weight people, but new research found more overweight people are dealing with cardiovascular disease at an earlier age. One finding showed middle-aged women who are overweight are 32-percent more likely to develop cardiovascular disease.
