A new study has suggested that more parents are requesting to delay their children’s vaccines or refusing to vaccinate them altogether. The American Academy of Pediatrics said the number of doctors encountering parents refusing vaccines jumped 12% between 2006 and 2013. Pediatricians reported that some parents consider vaccines unnecessary. Doctors added that fewer parents are expressing concern about a connection to autism.

Doctors at the University of Arkansas tracked teenage athletes who were recovering from concussions. They found adolescents who continued to play after a concussion took twice as long to recover as those who sat on the sidelines.

Children who specialize in a single sport at a young age may face a higher risk of overuse injuries, stress and burnout, according to a report in the journal Pediatrics. Doctors recommend that children play multiple sports and wait until their late high school years to specialize.
