Adolescents who use e-cigarettes, hookahs or smokeless tobacco are more likely to switch to regular cigarettes within a year, compared to those who don’t. A nearly 12 year study revealed changing the protein makeup of cow’s milk in baby formula does not reduce the chances of type 1 diabetes in at risk children. Scientists followed 2,100 children in 15 countries and found babies who drank formula with altered cow’s milk had the same risk of diabetes as to those who drank regular milk. Previous studies showed early exposure to foreign proteins, such as cow’s milk proteins, increases diabetes risk.
