In the months following the death of Robin Williams in 2014, suicides spiked 10 percent in the United States, according to a new study from Columbia University. Researchers said the biggest increase was among men 30 to 44 years old. The data also showed there was a 32 percent increase in asphyxiation suicides, the same method Williams used. 

An amino acid called asparagine, that’s commonly found in food, may hold the key to preventing a deadly form of breast cancer. Researchers at Cedars-Sinai found limiting the amino acid dramatically reduced the ability of the cancer to spread. Foods rich in asparagine include dairy, beef and eggs. Most fruits and vegetables are low in asparagine.

A new analysis of school-based programs aimed at preventing childhood obesity found they do not have much impact. Researchers said families and the food industry may have a much greater effect.
