Healthcast : A Study on Frozen Embryos & In Vitro Fertilization

Frozen embryos result in just as many live births as fresh embryos for in vitro fertilization. That’s the finding of a new study in the New England Journal of Medicine. Researchers said the results are specific to a certain type of freezing method known as Cryotech vitrification, so it may not apply to all freezing techniques.

A new study found people at high genetic risk for obesity benefit more from a healthy diet than those with low genetic risk. Researchers from Tulane and Harvard said the findings suggest that genetic predisposition to obesity is no barrier to successful weight management.

Following a Mediterranean diet may reduce the risk of frailty in older individuals. Researchers said seniors who followed the diet the most were less than half as likely to become frail after four years compared with those who followed it the least.  A Mediterranean diet emphasizes fruits, vegetables, legumes, and nuts.
