One in five older patients with a chronic illness reported experiencing some kind of health care discrimination. That’s according to a study from the University of California – San Francisco. Researchers found the unfair treatment was based on patients’ age, weight and income. They recommended medical professionals avoid a one-size fits all patient approach.
A new study suggested that advances in dialysis and new medication are helping kidney failure patients live longer. Researchers in Philadelphia and Canada said adolescents showed the biggest improvement during their five year study.
British researchers said drinking a hot cup of tea a day could lower the risk of developing glaucoma, but the study also showed drinking other beverages like iced tea, soft drinks and coffee had no effect. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness.
