More teens are choosing sugar-sweetened sports drinks. A study in Pediatrics looked at two groups of high schools students from 2010 and 2015 and found as they drank less soda, more and more consumed sports drinks each week. Researchers said sports drinks add unnecessary calories to a child’s diet and that the average child doesn’t do enough physical activity to require their electrolytes be replenished with a sports drink.
States with stricter firearms laws have lower rates of gun deaths in children. That’s according to a new study from Children’s National Health System. Injuries due to firearms are the third-leading cause of death among children.
We just came off of a very severe flu season and now pediatricians said delays in getting the flu vaccine are a problem. The new research presented at the Pediatric Academic Societies Meeting said delays need to be addressed to get more kids protected.
