The journal “Pediatrics” warns to be careful using hoverboards. Researchers examined data from 2015 and 2016, when they were first sold in the U.S. In that time, nearly 27,000 young people were hurt while riding one. Broken bones and sprains accounted for more than half the injuries.
A study done at NYU looked at food and drink sponsors of televised sports. It found that ads tend to promote non-nutritious foods and sugary drinks. The authors said the high visibility of these sponsorships could impact public health.
The American Academy of Pediatrics said low-income families need better access to healthy food. The group said many impoverished children have no way to get the nutritious foods they need. Instead, they’re surrounded by unhealthy options and may need help to improve their diet.
