Vitamin D supplements protect against colds and flu. That’s the conclusion of a major global study led by the Queen Mary University in London. Researchers sad the vitamin seems to reduce respiratory infections by boosting levels of natural antibiotic-like substances in the lungs. Vitamin D has long been known to have health benefits for bones and muscles.
A new study found attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder is associated with the delayed development of five brain regions. Researchers in the Netherlands also found that overall brain volume was smaller in people with the disorder.
Extremely premature babies still have a low survival rate, only about one in three make it, but those who survive are having fewer disabilities. Researchers from Duke Health looked at babies born 22 to 24 weeks. They found the number of preemies who survive without severe neurological problems has increased from a decade ago.
