Twenty percent of all cancer patients experience post-traumatic stress disorder several months after their diagnosis and many continue to live with PTSD years later, fearing their cancer might return. That’s according to new research published in the American Cancer Society journal. Researchers said doctors should be looking for signs of PTSD in cancer patients and encourage them to get help to manage the emotional toll.
Motorcycle crashes cause five times as many deaths as car accidents, three times the injuries and six times the medical costs, according to a new study. Canadian researchers found people in motorcycle crashes were younger, more likely to be men and more likely to be admitted to the intensive care unit.
The American Academy of Pediatrics is working with pediatricians to decrease the stigma for overweight children and teenagers. Research showed overweight or obese children often feel isolated, embarrassed and sad which can lead to other health problems. Obese children are also often the victims of bullying.
