Researchers from the University of Rochester said the findings are important because there is strong evidence that depressed patients are at greater risk for misusing and overdosing on opioids.

New research showed carriers of the BRCA 1 genetic mutation have a 72 percent risk of getting breast cancer by the time they are 80. Carriers of the BRCA 2 mutation have a 69 percent risk. The study, from the University of Cambridge, looked at nearly 10,000 women with the mutations.
