New research shows a Mediterranean diet can be just as helpful as taking medications for some reflux patients. A study at Northwell Health compared patients eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables to patients taking proton pump inhibitors. People who followed the diet also needed less medication for high blood pressure and high cholesterol.
A new study in the Lancet showed childhood cancer survivors are more likely to be have chronic health problems. Researchers said these children may need more specialized health care. There are more than 400-thousand childhood cancer survivors in the US.
Inner-city children are at higher risk for asthma, but living near a park may help them breathe easier. That’s according to Maryland researchers who found kids may have fewer days of symptoms if they live near parks and other green spaces.
