People suffering from major depression and suicidal thoughts may get rapid relief from a drug mainly used in anesthesia. Researchers, who tested a formulation of ketamine in a nasal spray, found significant improvement in depression symptoms for those using the spray in their study.
Young people who are transgender and gender-nonconforming face higher rates of anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. A large study from Kaiser Permanente, looking at medical records, found they were diagnosed with mental health conditions up to 13 times more than young people who identify with the gender they are assigned at birth.
Mom’s health may have a lot to do with when daughters begin puberty. A study of more than 15,000 girls and their mothers found obesity and hyperglycemia during pregnancy is linked to early onset puberty. Other studies connected early puberty to increased risk for diabetes and cancer as well as behavioral problems.
