Healthcast : Study on Risk of Developing Diabetes

A new study found people who drink three to four times per week are significantly less likely to develop diabetes than people who never drink. Researchers in Denmark said the biggest benefit was among people who drank a lot of red wine. They also warned that women who drink seven or more hard alcoholic drinks a week are at an increased risk.

Headphones are exposing teenagers to more loud music, but researchers said there hasn’t been any significant change in hearing loss among American teens. The study from the University of California, San Francisco found hearing loss increased one year and decreased the next, with no overall trend identified.

Babies born very prematurely or with low birth weight are not at an increased risk of having anxiety and mood disorders later on in life. That’s according to researchers from the University of Tennessee who followed nearly 400 babies from birth into adulthood.
