A summer day in June offered children and their families the opportunity to play and learn about how to live a healthy life. Covenant’s Carnival Day was put on with help from Kohl’s. The store sells books and stuffed animals. The money goes towards engaging the community. Covenant said so far they have received $38,000 from those sales.

“We’re really trying to promote our children to be a healthy hero. Being a healthy hero is anything you can do to keep your body healthy, that’s feeding it with healthy nutrition and keeping your heart rate elevated. This helping us promote childhood obesity, and this is so prevalent in our country right now,” said Meghan Oldham, with Covenant Hospital.

The event was held at Maxey Park. Since 2005, Kohl’s has donated more than $240,000 to Covenant Children’s. Other Covenant initiatives supported through Kohl’s Cares® include Kohl’s Boot Camp for New Parents, Kohl’s Fit Kids and Kohl’s Safety Scene. As part of the Healthy Heroes initiative, organizers of the free event invite families to come out for family fun and activities, including tasty treats, inflatable bouncers, games, giveaways and prizes, and health education opportunities.
